レアとラケルが共有していたものは、「絶望」だった。
- 愛を絶望的なほど欲するとき、人は「何か」によってそれを埋めようとする。
絶望は「埋め合わせ」を求める。
- 何かで埋め合わせしようとすることでは・・・

ルベンの出生
「主はわたしの苦しみを顧みて（ラア）くださった。これからは夫もわたしを愛してくれるにちがいない。」(32節)
- 自己憐憫、自己防衛、人の言葉に対しての過剰な反応によって「埋め合わせをしようとすること」では、絶望は解決することはない。
2.
シメオンの出生
「主はわたしが疎んじられていることを耳にされ（シャマ）、またこの子をも授けてくださった。」(33節)
- ヤコブはまだ彼女を愛していなかったが、少なくとも神が「聞いて」くださって、彼女に恵みをもたらそうとなされた。
3.
レビの出生
「これからはきっと、夫はわたしに結び付いて（ラバ）くれるだろう。夫のために三人も男の子を産んだのだから。」(34節)
- もし特定の人の愛を得られない場合に、何らかの方法で無理やりに、人の愛を勝ち得ようとする。私たちも同じようなことをしたことはないでしょうか？
4.
ユダの出生
「今度こそ主をほめたたえ(ヤダ)よう。」（35節）
- ユダという名前は、「ヤダ（ほめたたえる、感謝する）」という動詞の派生語。
- 現実は何も変わっていない。けれども彼女の口から賛美の言葉が ほとばしり出ている！
- 主をほめたたえ、賛美して生きるという私たちに与えられた本来の目的と使命 ネヘミヤ8：10、詩編102：19
恋なすび？
主の恵みに向かう以上に、目先の現実の好転に集中していた？
- 神様は非常に辛く苦しいプロセスを通してあなたを導かれ、勝利を味わう体験をする。けれども時間が経つと、いつの間にか、かつての古い思考パターンに戻っていた、という経験をしたことはないでしょうか？

What
Leah and Rachel shared was “desperation.”
-
When we become obsessed with receiving love, we try to fill that hole by
“something.”
Desperation
gives birth to obsession.
-
Obsession neither heals desperation nor supplies what is lacking.
1.
Birth of Reuben
“It
is because the Lord has seen my misery. (Reuben means “see.”) Surely my husband will love me now.” (v.32)
-
Self-pity, self-defense, or being obsessed and having extreme reactions to
other people’s words do not help solve desperation.
2.
Birth of Simeon
“Because
the Lord heard that I am not loved,
He gave me this one too.”
-
Jacob still didn’t love her, but a least God “heard” and granted her
favor.
3.
Birth of Levi
“Now at last my
husband will become attached to me,
because I have borne him three sons.” (v. 34)
-
If we can’t get a person to love us, have any of us ever tried to manipulate
some way they’d at least be tied to us?
4.
Birth of Judah
“This
time I will praise the Lord.”
So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children. (v. 35)
-
The name Judah means “praise.”
-
Nothing has changed. Yet the word of praise is poured out from her mouth.
-
Our essential purpose and calling to praise the Lord. Nehemiah 8:10, Psalm 102:19
Mandrakes?

Concentrating on turning around the immediate reality more than turning to the
Lord’s grace?
- You may
have experienced that God led you through very rough, difficult times, and then
you experienced the victory. But time goes by, you may go back to the old
thinking pattern without realizing it. Have any of you experienced that?
