聖書は、教会生活の中で、考え方の違いのために論争が避けられないこともあることを教えています。また、教会での話し合いは、民主的に事を進めるというよりも、そこに働いておられる神様を確認し、神様の御心を求めていくべきことを教えています。エルサレム会議で確認されたことは、人は信仰のみで恵みによって救われるものなのか、それとも人の業にとって獲得するものなのかという本質的な問題を含んでいました。この会議を経て、福音は、時代や場所を越えて全世界へと広がっていきます。このエルサレム会議は、キリスト教の歴史を決定づける、大きな出来事だったのです。
The Bible teaches us
that debate is sometimes unavoidable due of differences in thinking. It also
teaches us that the Church should be confirming what God has done among us and
seek His will, rather than sharing human wisdom and aiming for an agreement.
What was confirmed at the Jerusalem Council included the essential question of
whether a person would be saved by the grace based on faith alone, or salvation
would be earned by our work. Through this meeting, the gospel has been spreading
across the world, beyond times and places. This Jerusalem Council was a major
event in the Christian history.
